IMPRESSIONS FROM GENESIS

As I begin reading the Bible on a 90-Day Study with some other ladies, I looked back at some notes of the past and discovered this from another study.

Impressions from Genesis                                                                            Tuesday, January 4, 2011 12:03 PM

As I have read Genesis, I titled it "We Are Blessed!"

# 1 ~ God created...then blessed - then He said:  "Be fruitful and multiply..." (vs. 1:27; 5:1; 9:1)  We are blessed to be "fruitful and multiply" in God's Image and likeness. (See John 15 & Romans 8:29)
*[Ladies note who did the fruit bearing!  It began with ONE Woman!  After woman was created God said His Creation was "very good!" - woman is His crowning joy and she is His partner in giving life (birth of mankind.)  We are specially created and dear to God's heart!]
~ The unrighteous die in the Flood.  Verse 9:1 Righteous Noah is blessed and told "to be fruitful and multiply." [Now it begins again with 4 Women doing the fruit bearing...giving life!]
*Another note:  Being "fruitful and multiplying" was instructed before sin entered and after the world was cleansed of unrighteous.  God intended the fruit and multiplying to be in His Image.  Look at John 15 and the Vine life and see how we are to bear fruit...more fruit...much fruit.  The Vine is Jesus Christ.  The branches are Believers.  The Fruit is the Image of Christ The Vine!  ALL is to glorify (reveal the Person, Power and Presence of God) The Father!

#2 ~ GOD created in His Image; in His Own Likeness!
Verse 5:3 - Adam had a son in his image (in his own likeness.)  This was Seth.
(Abel had been killed by Cain and Cain had been banished.)  This tells us something about Adam and his relationship to God.  Seth began the redemptive line leading to Christ.
I challenge to watch the redemptive line and who comprises it as you read through The Word!

The teacher in me can't help studying instead of just reading.  I share to be "fruitful and multiply" for His glory!

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR IMPRESSIONS AND INSIGHTS AS YOU READ AND STUDY THE WORD...SHARE WITH US!
"You are My witnesses, declares the Lord, that I am God." Isaiah 43:12

ONE YEAR OF WALKING IN THE FOOTPRINTS OF JESUS

ONE YEAR OF WALKING IN THE FOOTPRINTS OF JESUS…Connecting the Dots…!  My Sunday School class did this twice ending on June 24, 2015 and August 24, 2019

…We have followed in the steps of Jesus from HEAVEN…to  HEAVEN!
…We’ve read, observed, tasted, learned and experienced how Jesus lived in a human body
…how He fulfilled His created purpose to redeem the world from the bondage of sin;
And demonstrated how to live in this sinful world without participating in the sin and yielding to the flesh.
…He gave those who believed and were born again, His Very Own Spirit to finish His work by telling the lost in sin they have been redeemed.
…He returned to Heaven to prepare us a new home!

SO…where do we go from here?  What do we do with what we have learned and experienced?  What did Jesus say we were suppose to do while He was gone?

SUGGESTIONS:
Remember His last words in Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8
***THE HOLY SPIRIT has been given…as our Teacher, Guide, Helper, Comforter and Constant Companion!  Galatians 5 (16)
***The Holy Spirit is A GIFT OF POWER!  He also gives GIFTS to those He indwells!
Check out:  ROMANS 12…I CORINTHIANS 12…EPHESIANS 4
***He unites THE BODY OF CHRIST and designates each BODY Part.  JESUS IS THE HEAD!

…Our Created Purpose, our Spiritual Gift and our Body Part in Christ are ALL perfectly fitted, matched and designed to produce an Abundant Life that satisfies SELF in EVERY facet.  It is who and what you were created for and God’s Completed Will for you!!! ...CONNECT THE DOTS!

…We need to get personally, intimately, emotionally, lovingly, mentally absorbed, devoted and obsessed with the REALITY of HIS PRESENCE LIVING IN EACH OF US PERSONALLY!

***GOD THE FATHER, JESUS CHRIST THE SON OF GOD AND THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD…ALL…HAVE AN ENEMY!
He has many names, but we know him best as The Devil and Satan.
He HATES GOD and all that belongs to HIM.
He IS EVERYTHING OPPOSITE OF GOD…BUT, he is in no way equal to GOD.
He was created by GOD and will be destroyed by GOD.
He knows his days are running out so he is NOT holding back anything that would kill, steal and destroy ALL that is GOD’S!
(See JOHN 10:10 a summary of Life)
…DO NOT FEAR him!  We have the WEAPON that defeats him!  We must KNOW our WEAPON and be Expert with it…like any Good Soldier!  We MUST have an abundance of AMMUNITION…for the enemy is relentless!   (Begin with EPHESIANS 6:10-19)

***We have our ammunition of The Holy Spirit of God and The Holy Word of God so let us go forth empowered…Amen!

Planned studies to continue focus of Reality of Holy Spirit living in us and working through us: Ephesians;  1 & 2 Peter; Hebrews.

THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD

June 7, 2019
Jesus said:
“The Father who lives in Me does His works.”
John 14:10b
(John Chapters 14 & 15)

THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD

My delightful time with my Lord today has revealed some refreshing insights that has brought me JOY!
I have made notes and an outline,  but I wish I could express in words the ecstasy of His Presence and His Spirit teaching and reminding me of His words.

*If we would read God’s Word and not pay attention to the divisions of chapters and verses, I think we would get a clearer understanding…my opinion.

Our Focus today is the end of what we call The Lord’s Last Supper from John’s account.
I realized today that I have made divisions of this evening in Jesus’ life according to the chapters in our Bible and lost concentration that these were His last words and instructions before He is going to complete His purpose for being born.  He was trying to prepare them for the unknown that was about to turn their lives upside down, and give them some comfort and answers to questions when they are confused and shocked and trying to make understanding where there seems to be none.

My lesson today is realizing that Jesus was telling them that even though they were no longer going to see Him in the flesh that He was going to become even more intimate to them by living WITHIN them!  Thus, the beginning of instructions on the Presence of THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD and the life with Him.
Remember what HOLY means.  It means sanctified, set apart for God’s use.
The HOLY Spirit is the Spirit of God set apart for:
-those who have seen the Truth of Jesus Christ from The Word of God
-those who have believed He IS the Son of God
-those who know Him personally
-those who love Him
*Those who Love Him, keeps His Words; remains(lives) in Him; He reveals Himself to them;
He and The Father will make Their Home in them.

“I Am the Vine…”
The Jesus Vine is evidence of His Presence.  Let’s look at this Chapter 15 instruction
The Branches are those described above.  They believe, know, love and live for Jesus Christ.
NO FRUIT is caused by unbelief and is removed!
FRUIT is likeness of Jesus, but immatureit is pruned!
MORE FRUIT has been pruned and bears more of Jesus
MUCH FRUIT comes from a Branch that is mature and secure, remaining(living) in Jesus and proving they are His!

SO THAT…
…where Jesus is, I will be also.
…The Father will be glorified.
…I can ask and receive my desires
…When His Word comes true, I will believe
…The world may know God loves them
Know His Joy from within and my Joy will be complete

CONCLUSION

***Jesus said:  “Apart from Me, you can do nothing.”
 (John 15:5)
“The Father who lives in Me does His works.”
(John 14:10b)
“I will never leave you, nor forsake you;
so that we may boldly say:
The Lord(within) is my Helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?”
(Hebrews 13:5-6)

SPIRITUAL WARFARE

April 12, 2019
I’ve asked you to PRAY for me and Rose on many occasions…and you have been faithful and gracious to do so.  TODAY I come and ask for those of you who want to be warriors of God to join me in STANDING against the spiritual forces of evil and powers of darkness according to Ephesians 6:10-20 on behalf of Rose’s mind and medicines.
Jesus said that EVERYTHING we do is to give God GLORY.  Rose’s present state of mine and the medicines she is taking do NOT give GOD Glory because they have produced ANGER, HATE, DESIRES TO HURT, NO RECOGNITION OF GOD.  She is FILLED with CONFUSION, ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, and HOSTILITY.
God has been very obvious in our lives over the past year as Rose has gone through getting her hearing and life in a place of peace, praise and plans for a great future in her old age.  Many of you have shared in this journey and joined with supporting us in PRAYER and GOD’S LOVE.

About a month ago things changed drastically as she was diagnosed with Dementia and put on new medications that she has reacted to differently than normal and her behavior has progressively and quickly become dangerous to her and me.
I have researched Scripture, sought medical and spiritual council and have found like-minded thinking about taking her off all these mind controlling meds and seeking the Mind of Christ and His Plans for our lives to give Him glory in ALL situations.
The Scripture above in EPHESIANS 6:10-20 outlines for us clearly who and what causes our battles that don’t honor God; and tells us how to battle against these powers of darkness…we STAND…STAND…STAND...with FAITH, RIGHTEOUSNESS, SALVATION, PEACE, GOD’S WORD (as our weapon) and PRAYER in THE SPIRIT OF GOD that dwells within each Believer of Jesus Christ.

#2 Request:  I, Betty Nunes, ask as Paul did “Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for the saints.  Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel…Pray that I might be bold enough in Him to speak as I should.”

I believe that when these medicines of chemicals that the body was not designed for by God are out of her system, she can return to her right mind and receive the Word of God and give Him praise.   Then, God will do what He has promised to finish the work He has begun in us until Jesus Christ returns.  He will work in us how to give Him glory…even with Dementia!

HAGAR, the Egyptian

February 18, 2019
Genesis Chapters 16-21
 HAGAR, the Egyptian
Personal Slave of SARAH

ABRAHAM and SARAH went down to Egypt because of a famine  when he was about 75 years old.
About 10 years later, having returned to the land of Canaan,  Abraham questions God about being childless.  Remember, Sarah is barren!   The Lord tells Abram that an heir will come from him and his offspring will be numerous…more than the stars and the sand!  The Lord made a covenant with him.

The journey to Egypt got more than wealth from there; they also acquired slaves…and SARAI owned an Egyptian slave named, HAGAR!
Sarah, too assumes that God’s idea of Abraham having offspring and her being barren meant that someone else was to help Abraham father a child!

*EXAMPLE OF RUNNING AHEAD OF GOD ~
Sarah said to Abraham:  ”Since the Lord has prevented me from bearing children, go to my slave; perhaps through her I can build a family…And Abram agreed.”
Genesis 16:16 ~ Abram was eighty-six years old when HAGAR bore Ismael to him.”

HAGAR despises Sarah being her Mistress after she becomes pregnant with Abraham’s child and shows her disrespect and she’s rude to her.  Sarah consults Abraham and he tells her to do with her whatever she wants.  Sarah begins to mistreat Hagar, so Hagar runs away.

The Angel of the Lord appears to HAGAR by a spring of water in the wilderness and tells her to return to her mistress and submit to her mistreatment because her offspring would be greatly multiplied.
He said she would have a son and she would name him ISHMAEL for the Lord has heard your cry of affliction.

So HAGAR gave birth to Abraham’s son and he gave him the name ISHMAEL.

We don’t hear any more about HAGAR or ISHMAEL until he is 13 years old and God gives Abraham a new covenant about circumcision and all the males in Abraham’s household were circumcised that day.
This is also the year that SARAH is told she is going to have a son by Abraham…when Abraham is 100 years old and Sarah is 90 years old she gives birth to a son and his name is ISAAC.

When Isaac is weaned, Abraham held a great feast and Sarah saw Ishmael mocking her son Isaac and she became angry and told Abraham to send HAGAR away because her son would not be coheir with her son Isaac.
God told Abraham to do as Sarah said because his offspring would be traced through ISAAC.
God said not to be concerned about ISHMAEL and HAGAR because He would make a nation of the slave’s son because he is also his son.  It was difficult for Abraham because of his son; but early in the morning, he gave HAGAR food and water and sent her and ISHMAEL away.

HAGAR wandered in the wilderness until they ran out of water and she had Ishmael sit under some bushes and she sat down and wept.  God heard her and told her to get up because He was going to make a great nation of her son.  Her eyes were opened and she saw a well of water and they filled their waterskin and the Lord was with them and they settled in the wilderness.  The boy grew and became archer.  His mother got him a wife from Egypt…

…and they lived happily in the Wilderness of Paran
near Sinai.

SARAI BECOMES SARAH & RECEIVES GOD'S PROMISE

February 14, 2019
Genesis Chapters 12-23
SARAI BECOMES SARAH
Wife of Abraham

Mistake #3 ~ ABRAM had a beautiful wife that he cherished…as long as it didn’t threaten his well-being.  Listen to his reasoning:
He said to his wife Sarai, “Look, I know what a beautiful woman you are.  When the Egyptians see you, they will, say, ‘This is his wife.’  They will kill me but let you live.  Please say you’re my sister so it will go well for me because of you, and my life will be spared on your account.” Genesis 12:10-20
See also chapter 20
Not learning from this mistake…Abram & Sarai repeated it again when leaving Egypt and entering the Negev to Canaan (where he was supposed to be setting up Home!)

SARAI was an obedient wife, but also foolish because this arrangement made her eligible for the affections of another man!
It also caused great consequences for those who innocently received her as Abram’s sister…such as Pharaoh who took her into his house to be one of his wives; and God struck him and his household with severe plagues.  He told them to “go”.  Abraham, SARAH and all he had acquired there…flocks, herds, donkeys, camels and slaves.
He left wealthy!
Inching his way back to the land God gave him; he encounters King Abimelech of Gerar and this time Sarah says he is her brother!  She was brought to Abimelech…but God said to him in a dream that he was about to die because the woman he had taken was a married woman!  All the women of Abimelech’s household God had closed their wombs.  Abraham prays for them and they send them away with lots of money to vindicate Sarah’s honor.

It’s now about 10 years later, and Abram questions God about being childless.  Remember, Sarai is barren!   The Lord tells Abram that an heir will come from him and his offspring will be numerous…more than the stars and the sand!  The Lord made a covenant with him.

The Egypt Mistake has more repercussions – they got more than wealth from there; they brought back slaves…and SARAI owned an Egyptian slave named, HAGAR!
*BAD IDEA ~”Since the Lord has prevented me from bearing children,
go to my slave; perhaps through her I can build a family”
…And Abram agreed.”
Genesis 16:16 ~ Abram was eighty-six years old when HAGAR bore Ismael to him.”
We leave HAGAR here for a brief conclusion later…

ABRAM becomes ABRAHAM and SARAI becomes SARAH
When Abram was 99 and Sarai was 89, the Lord appeared and said he was setting up His Covenant and promises to multiply him greatly.  He changes his name and says:  “I will make you the father of many nations…for generations to come My covenant between Me and you will be marked in your flesh, and every male will be circumcised…throughout generations when a male is 8 days old.”
Ismael was 13 years old when he and Abraham were circumcised.

SURPRISE! ~  God also says that SARAH is going to have a son, and you will name him ISAAC!...(Genesis 21)
“Sarah said:  God has made me laugh, and everyone who hears will laugh with me.  Who would have told Abraham that Sarah would nurse children?  Yet I have borne a son for him in his old age…Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.”

SARAH now resents HAGAR and has her sent away…

Genesis 23:1 ~ “Now SARAH lived 127 years.  Sarah dies in Hebron in the land of Canaan and Abraham went to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her…Abraham buried his wife SARAH in the cave of the field at Machpelah near Hebron in the land of Canaan.”

INTRODUCTION OF SARAI

February 11-13, 2019
Genesis Chapters 12-23

INTRODUCTION OF SARAI/SARAH
Wife/Sister of Abram/Abraham
Son & Daughter of TERAH
***Note Genesis 20:12 for more explanation about Sarah being Abraham’s sister
The first significant woman following the flood is simply introduced as
“Abram’s wife was named SARAI…
Sarai was unable to conceive, she did not have a child.”

Background info:  (More information is in the previous post.)
TERAH was from the lineage of SHEM.  He was 70 years old when he fathered ABRAM, NAHOR, and HARAN.  His native land was in Ur of the Chaldeans.  After his son, HARAN died, he took his son, ABRAM, grandson LOT (Haran’s son), and his son ABRAM’s wife, SARAI and they set out to go to the land of Canaan.  But when they came to Haran, they settled there.  TERAH lived 205 years and died in Haran.

Point #1 ~  The LORD speaks to ABRAM and tells him to leave his land, relatives and father’s household and go to a land that He will show him.  He is 75 years old.
The LORD promises ABRAM that He will make him into a great nation; He will bless him, and makes his name great; he will be a blessing; He will bless those who bless him and He will curse those who mistreat him; and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through him.

Point #2 ~ ABRAM, husband of SARAI, we know will become a great man of FAITH; however, his journey to that was made up of trials and errors.  It becomes apparent that he has an ego problem that will endanger his wife, Sarai; and he has his own self-centered idea about The Lord's instructions and promise.

Mistake #1 ~ ABRAM does not follow directions about who and what he was to leave behind, and brought “trouble” with him.
Mistake #2 ~ When he got to the land The Lord told him to go to and that HE said was to be his and his offspring, ABRAM’s eyes and curiosity caused him to slowly venture away from the land of Canaan and “he went down to Egypt to stay there for a while to avoid a famine in the land!

Please say you’re my sister so it will go well for me because of you, and my life will be spared on your account.”

to be continued...
